The "Seebensee" is in terms of picturesque beauty an enchanting place. You will witness an impressive mountain lake located at 1780 m above sea level. It is hidden between the central chain of the Austrian Alps but very close to the German border. Its crystalline waters form an immense mirror where the imposing peaks - some up to 2874m high - surrounding it, are clearly reflected almost all day long. Among these giants you can see the “Tajakopf / 2450m” and the “Drachenkopf / 2302m”. The unique landscape generates photographic motifs, as if they were taken from the most magical fairy tale. Its panoramic view, the waters in various shades of blue, the immense stone walls aiming towards the sky and its beautiful alpine nature, make this an idyllic place. Simply magic that delights every possible sense.

The “Seebensee” can only be reached on foot or by mountain bike. This is why this trip is even more interesting. Pure air, beautiful meadows and views of different valleys will accompany you throughout the itinerary. Visitors say here is something magical when you stand next to the Seebense. It is perhaps that contrast of bare and steep rocks, the colors of the alpine flora and the infinite sky that will transport you to another dimension. This easy walk from Ehrwald to the Seebensee is ideal for the entire family. It is one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol, that invites you to take a break and refresh.

Tip: From Seebensee it is possible to reach the Coburger Hütte in about 40 minutes on foot, where you can explore another beautiful mountain lake - the Drachensee.
